Sometimes I think I might be a genius.  I'm pretty proud of this outfit.  I almost wish I had made it for my niece, cuz then I'd get to hold it and pet it :).  Made with Berroco Ultra Alpaca, sized 0-3 months, and modeled on my gorgeous little niece Kynslie.

Winter Hats

Every year a mama from Canada orders a couple of winter hats from me for her little boy.  Sometimes she orders gifts for friends too.  I don't do hats for money, really.  I only charge $15, which covers the cost of yarn basically. I love doing them though. They're a quick, easy project that invariably make me smile because most of the time people want really cute things.  Like these :D

Woody and Jessie

This has been a super fun project! Things have been going very slow for me. I just can't seem to stay well for more than a few days at a time, and it's really put a pinch on my creativity. However, I'm still here, still kickin' and hopefully with the new drugs I will be able to get on top of everything and put some more cute stuff up here!

This mama has a boy and a girl, ages 2 and 3, and of course they're huge Toy Story fans, as are my boys, so this is so perfect for them! I can't wait to see action shots of these. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how they came out. I hope the mama does too!

New Stuff in my Etsy Shop

It's very strange for me to have no custom orders floating around.  I've been working on some really cute stuff for friends and family that I'll be posting shortly, but until then, enjoy the few things I've made and put in my shop!  I've changed the eyes on the owlie skirty.  I like these better.  I also like the way I did the eyelashes, and may change the way I do them on monster bums too.  Also, I really like the dark sock monkeys.  I'm tempted to keep the shorties for my little guy.  If they don't sell before the weather starts to cool down, I think I'll take them down and keep them for myself.  Yes, I do smile at my baby's bum wandering around my house decorated by the monsters and monkeys I've made for him and for my nephews who've lent them back to me.  Enjoy!  All of these are made with 100% wool except for the owlie skirty which is alpaca wool blend, and all are size medium large fitting from about 12-24 months.

 

 

  

 

 

 

Sleep Sack

I've been doing quite a lot of non diaper related stuff lately.  this is a sleep sack and hat.  It's the snuggliest, nicest thing for a newborn!  I made one for my youngest when he was born.  I was going to make him a blanket, like I did for his brothers, but I ran out of time so I decided to make something small.  This ended up being PERFECT.  I actually used it way more than I used any blanket ever.  He spent most of his first 2-3 months in this sleep sack. he loved it.  It was so cozy and soft, and can't come unwrapped like a blanket.  For the stripes, as usual, I used this random stripe generator. One of my favorite tools. The pattern I used is this one that I found through Ravelry.  Nice, easy pattern.  The only thing I changed was adding a couple of inches to the length.

Skullies and Caterpillars

 This mama is going to be sending the caterpillar shorties back to get them lengthened into longies. That is a service I offer for the price of shipping on any longies or shorties as long as the rise still fits.

I lost my skullie pattern and had to re-draw it.  I think it came out pretty good, if just a little big.  The bow tie was a suggestion from my knitting group.  I think they were right :).

I used two different yarns to get the green for the caterpillar.  One was a Cascade 220 wool, the other I can't remember, but it's a baby alpaca lace weight.  I really love how it came out.  And fortunately, I have enough to make a pair for my little guy!

Here's the boy I made the for modeling them.  What a CUTIE!!! I'm jealous of those curls... kinda regretting cutting Jonah's off.

Old McDonald... AGAIN!

This is apparently my new Skullie... as in I'm getting lots of requests for it!  I'll have another one, slightly different to post in a couple weeks.  New to this edition is the hat.  I love the hat.  My design, but inspired by a hat I saw on Ravelry.  Modeled by my gorgeous niece Livvy... but only because my little guy Jonah was asleep at the time.  

Wanna hear the funny part?  I ordered extra yarn so I could make a pair of these for Jonah... and then I got another order for The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  So I'm gonna have to order more for my little guy.  You'd think I'd have the best dressed baby on the planet. Le sigh. If only I actually had time to knit for my own family!  

This is Jonah modeling the hat. Not a great pic, but he's just so darn cute!  We were having peanut butter sandwiches for lunch... he was helping spread the peanut butter :D.

Can you tell me how to get....

I'm in love with these.  I don't ever want to make them again. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE them.  They're made with Stockbridge by Webs which is close to Berroco Ultra Alpaca and I'll sometimes use them interchangeably since they're the same weight and blend, and sometimes I can't find the colors I want in Berroco, or I don't want a whole skein.  Berroco only comes in 100g skeins, while Stockbridge is half that, so I don't have to buy as much if it's colors I probably won't use as much.  It's a little pillier than the Berroco, and not quite as soft, but still a very  nice yarn that I prefer over almost any 100% wool.  Yup.... love these.  Still hate embroidery.

Hats!

It's been quite a while since I've posted anything. Shame on me! We've had a new baby (okay... he just turned one) we moved to a new city (all right... 7 months ago) and we've all been sick all winter. Those are okay excuses to not have posted anything, right? Okay I know. No excuse. I actually have done many projects, but I haven't been able to get pictures of all of them before I sent them off or gave them away. I'll do my best to catch up. We'll start with some hats that went to Canada a few weeks ago. These are all my own pattern except the Koala hat which was bought at the request of the mama who ordered the hats. I love love LOVE how soft the yarn is that I used for the Koala hat. The owls are made with my favorite Berroco Ultra Alpaca with trims in whatever, and the monster is Cestari. Enjoy! By the way, I LOVE the eyes on that little girlie owl. I'll definitely be using those again!
